Hognose Hub ("we," "us," "our") operates hognosehub.com and its associated services. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.
We are based in Ohio, United States. If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom, this policy describes your rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR.

Information we collect
When you create an account
- Email address — used to sign you in, confirm your account, and send account-related email.
- Password — stored only as a cryptographic hash by our authentication provider. We never see or store your password.
- Display name — shown publicly on the community forum.
We do not collect your legal name, phone number, mailing address, or date of birth when you create an account.
When you post in the community forum
- The content of your posts and threads
- Your account identifier and display name, which are shown alongside your posts
- Timestamps of when you post or edit
If you report a post, we store the report reason and your account identifier so moderators can review it.
We do not log IP addresses or browser user-agent strings.
When you join a waitlist
- Email address
- Which product you joined the waitlist for
- Your account identifier, if you were signed in
When you shop
Our store is powered by Shopify. When you check out, you leave our site and complete your purchase on Shopify's hosted checkout at checkout.hognosehub.com.
We never receive or store your name, shipping address, or payment details. Those go directly to Shopify. Your order is fulfilled by Printify, which receives your shipping address from Shopify in order to ship your item.
On our own site, we store only a cart identifier in a cookie so your cart persists between visits. The cart's contents live with Shopify, not with us.
When you join the breeder merch program
Breeders who accept an invitation and complete onboarding provide:
- Brand or business name
- General location (city and state or country — not a street address)
- A short blurb and biography
- Logo image and up to three photographs
- Social media and marketplace links
- Specialties and merchandise selections
We do not collect tax identification numbers, bank details, or payout information. Payouts to breeders are arranged separately, outside this website.
Breeder logos and photographs are stored in publicly accessible storage. Anyone with the direct URL can view them. Do not upload images you are not comfortable making public.
When you use HogKnows AI
HogKnows is an AI assistant available to Academy members, provided by a third party, Chatbase. It loads inside an embedded frame on our site.
We do not send Chatbase your name, email, or any identifier. Chatbase receives whatever you type into the chat, and its own privacy practices govern that. If you would rather not use it, simply don't.
Why we process your information
For visitors in the EU or UK, the GDPR requires us to name a legal basis for each purpose:

Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We have never sold personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
International data transfers
Our service providers are located in the United States. If you are in the EU or UK, your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Where required, these transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or a provider's certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, as applicable to each provider.

We use two cookies, both strictly necessary:

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. We run no analytics software, no advertising pixels, and no third-party trackers. Because both cookies are strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested, we do not display a cookie consent banner.
Third parties may set their own cookies inside content embedded on our site — specifically the HogKnows AI assistant, which loads only for Academy members who navigate to it. Our embedded YouTube videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which does not set cookies unless you press play.
How long we keep information

Order records are retained by Shopify under their own policy.
Your rights
Everyone, regardless of location, may ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated information
- Provide a copy of your information in a portable format
If you are in the EU or UK, you additionally have the right to:
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances
- Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what information we collect, to request deletion, to request correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. As stated above, we do not sell or share your personal information.
To exercise any right, email hello@hognosehub.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Deleting your account
Email hello@hognosehub.com and we will delete your account and profile. Your forum posts will be removed or anonymized. Deletion is permanent.
Children
Hognose Hub is not intended for children. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or at least 16 if you are in the European Union or United Kingdom.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below these ages. If you believe a child has created an account, email hello@hognosehub.com and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard protections: encrypted connections, hashed passwords, row-level database security, and signed short-lived URLs for image uploads.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you share information with us at your own risk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced to members by email or an in-site notice.
