The Hognose Hub community is a place for keepers and breeders to share knowledge, ask questions, and connect over Western Hognose snakes. These guidelines keep it welcoming and useful for everyone. By posting, you agree to follow them, along with our Terms of Service.
Be respectful
Treat other members the way you'd want to be treated. Disagreement is fine and often useful — personal attacks, insults, and hostility are not. Critique ideas, not people.
Disagree without piling on
Husbandry and genetics are areas where experienced keepers genuinely disagree, and that's healthy. But there's a difference between a good discussion and a pile-on. Don't gang up on a member, chase them across threads, or turn a difference of opinion into a campaign. If a conversation has run its course, let it rest.
Stay on topic
Keep posts relevant to the thread and the community. General reptile discussion is welcome; off-topic spam, derailing, and repetitive posting are not.
No selling animals through the forum
The forum is for education and community, not commerce. Please do not post animals for sale, wanted-to-buy ads, or sales solicitations in the forum. There are dedicated marketplaces for that. This keeps the community focused on knowledge-sharing and avoids the disputes that come with private sales.
No spam or unauthorized advertising
Don't post spam, referral links, or promotional content without permission. If you'd like to collaborate or share something commercial, contact us first at hello@hognosehub.com.
Keep it legal and safe
Don't post content that is illegal, encourages illegal activity, or promotes harm to animals or people. Follow the laws that apply to keeping and breeding in your own jurisdiction, and don't encourage others to break theirs.
Post responsibly
- Don't share other people's private information.
- Don't impersonate other members, breeders, or Hognose Hub staff.
- Don't post content you don't have the right to share.
- Give husbandry advice honestly and in good faith — if you're not sure, say so.
Remember: education, not veterinary advice
Community members share experience and opinions, not professional care. For a health concern about a specific animal, consult a qualified reptile veterinarian. See our Terms of Service for more.
How we moderate
We review reported content and may remove posts, edit threads, or restrict accounts that break these guidelines. If you see something that doesn't belong, use the report option so a moderator can look at it.
We aim to be fair and light-handed — most issues are resolved with a nudge, not a ban. Repeated or serious violations may lead to removal from the community.
Reporting and questions
To report a problem, use the report option on the post or thread. For anything else:
